The Employment Equity legislation has brought about several changes to the labour and employment landscape of south Africa. The law reform commission has also transformed the legislation although taking serious consideration with the spirit of the constitution. It is important to note that the implementation of the Employment equity legislation cannot be effective without taking into consideration other legislations that affect the labour and employment landscape. These include but is not limited to the Skills Development Act, the Black Economic Empowerment Act as amended and the B-BBEE codes of good practice. The EE legislation has also evolved over time. From the EE Act 55 of 1998 to the Amendments of 2013, there has been changes to definitions, turnover thresholds, a higher target of audits by regulatory authorities. These changes brings to bear the strong implication in terms of higher risk to the business for non-compliance.
